In the past, I was known for talking my way into yoga classes. This is the first time I’ve been able to actually get someone to just listen.
This is a long-standing myth, and I believe that a lot of my students were mistaken about the nature of this class. It’s actually fairly straightforward. It’s a series of asanas that include a lot of core work.
In short, asanas are basically what you do to get your body to move, and core work is what makes the movement. The most common asana is called the sun salutation, and it is done by starting with your legs on the floor and getting them to point straight out to the sky. This movement is referred to as the “saddle” position, and its the most similar to the pose you would find in the typical yoga class.
Although it works, the sun salutation will often hurt your knees if you don’t use the proper form. It’s a pretty good idea to start with a yoga mat, so you can avoid this issue in the first place.
Now, the sun salutation is a very good exercise, but it is also a very good form of meditation. Think about how each of your toes is connected to the ground. Every time your toes touch the ground, you are asking for your toes to reach the earth. This is where the theory of the “kundalini” comes in.
